Thaddeus Evans grew up in Atlanta, GA but has called New York home for nearly two decades, which is where he began his career in education. He studied music and psychology as an undergraduate at Columbia University, but was drawn by the education reform movement. Thaddeus has been a teacher and leader in various schools over the last 15 years. Throughout his work he has been committed to providing access to an exceptional education, particularly in marginalized communities because he believes education is the means by which individuals gain access to opportunity and our society becomes a more just place. He studied school leadership at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and was a founding instructional leader at an international school in Hamburg, Germany. Thaddeus currently serves as the Director of Upper Elementary at Brooklyn Prospect Charter School: Downtown Elementary. In his work with students, teachers, families and fellow leaders Thaddeus values building meaningful relationships, and learning and growing with people from diverse backgrounds. He is a lifelong learner, loves almost all artistic expression, enjoys exploring new places and has a passion for service. He joins Roots ConnectED because he believes in the power of teaching children to see humanity in one another.
