Small Actions, Big Impact: Honoring Dr. King’s Work and Vision

Dear Roots ConnectED Community,

The work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. remains as vital today as it was over 50 years ago. One of the most inspiring aspects of his legacy is his unwavering commitment to resisting oppression and injustice both on the personal and institutional level, no matter the challenges or the climate of the time. His courage and resilience continue to inspire us in our mission.

This has been a year full of both challenges and moments of joy.  This year we have been able to be in conferences, around small tables, in large gatherings and learning environments, all focused on one question: How do we create better and more equitable spaces for our children? As I reflect on Dr. King’s work, I find hope and optimism—not only in Dr. King and other powerful figures both in the past and today, but also in the work we do together to build community across lines of difference. Our efforts may begin with small, intentional shifts, but these have the potential to spark meaningful, lasting change.

I share that talk with you below.

As we honor Dr. King and other central figures in history during this time, I encourage us all to reflect on the lives of those who broke barriers alongside him, and those who continue to break them today in his legacy.

Thank you for being part of this community and for your dedication to building a more just and connected world.  There is a movement to make change and I am so happy Roots ConnectED gets to be a part of it.

Warmly,
Sahba Rohani
Executive Director
