Jason Fulford has 15 years of experience as an educator and, in that time, he has worked with students from K through 8th grade in New York City. For 9 years, he worked at Community Roots Charter School in Brooklyn, New York, a Roots ConnectED learning site. In addition to being part of the operations staff, Jason helped organize existing family programs, developed new programs for students and their families to engage in, and served as its Coordinator of Community Programs & Recruitment. He recently moved to North Carolina to pursue creating a curriculum around sustainability and how sustainable practices can help uplift communities. Jason is also trained in Restorative Practices and uses that training to support restorative approaches to discipline, as well as workshops for school faculty. He has been a workshop facilitator for Roots ConnectED for more than three years, where he has supported educators and school leaders in adopting community & family engagement approaches to school culture and curriculum development with a focus in getting families involved. Jason believes this work is essential to helping other schools see the importance of creating a strong culture where everyone feels welcomed.
