Christine Raffo is born and raised in New York and feels deeply connected to her home city, where she currently lives and teaches. She was a founding staff and has taught for eight years at Community Roots Charter School in Brooklyn, a Roots ConnectED learning site. In addition to her role of teaching middle school physical education and sexual health education, Christine serves as the Advisory Coordinator for grades 6-8 where she co-created the Vision of Advisory, develops Advisory curriculum, observes and provides feedback, and facilitates professional development to build community and support staff in their role as Advisors.
Christine has been an educational coach and workshop facilitator for Roots ConnectED since 2019, supporting educators and school leaders in their effort to develop and implement strong Advisory programming. Christine's commitment to this work stems from her belief that creating space in the school setting for students to share their personal stories and identities builds more equitable school communities.
