Chanel Hill was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where she has taught 2nd through 4th grade. She has been at Community Roots, a Roots ConnectED learning site, since 2011 where she has taught in high impact ICT classrooms utilizing various co-teaching approaches and using the Universal Design for Learning framework to meet the needs of all her students. At Community Roots, she also serves as a member of the Inclusive Practices Group, a staff leadership group committed to providing all students with an educational environment where learner variability is acknowledged, valued, and supported. Chanel has been an educational coach and workshop facilitator for Roots ConnectED since 2018 and believes that when people have the opportunity to learn from those who live, think, and learn differently than themselves, it deepens everyone's understanding and connection with others. She holds a MA from New York University in early childhood and special education.
