As our nation becomes ever more divided, Roots ConnectED envisions a unified world build upon a foundation of justice.
OUR MISSION
Roots ConnectED empowers educators to create classrooms and schools where children and staff are community builders, critical thinkers, understand biases, and realize their capacity to create change.
We are committed to each child seeing the humanity in one another.
Anti-Bias Framework
Roots ConnectED accompanies school communities and educational professionals in cultivating racial justice. Using Roots ConnectED’s Anti-Bias Framework™, we design plans for school leaders and teachers to develop curriculum, culture, and learning environments that center equity and justice. Through immersion in existing practices at our learning site and deep collaboration with participating schools, we provide the practical tools to create intentionally integrated and inclusive school communities for all stakeholders.

Schools are communities
Schools are communities made up of children, faculty, and families come into school spaces with intersecting identifiers that make them unique. Racial and cultural identifiers, gender, religion, class, sexuality, cognitive and neuro diversity, and lived experiences are all present in the classroom and school space.
So learning structures, as well as academic, social, and emotional access must all contribute to creating spaces of belonging and depth of understanding.
We believe that our work should be tied directly to practice. Our learning site, Community Roots, in Brooklyn NY, serves as an anchor for learning. No matter the circumstances of your specific site, we know this to be true and the conditions for learning grow in this environment.
What Sets Us Apart
We have codified over a decade of learning from practices born at Community Roots, a diverse by design K-8 progressive school in Brooklyn. Community Roots serves as a learning site for Roots ConnectED. We want you to know a little about the school as some of our examples and practices are shown from classrooms at CRCS.
